Brunello di Montalcino

Wine Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva
Vintage 2010
Format 750 ml

"The most historic estate in Montalcino absolutely thrived in 2010, releasing two perfect wines, the Annata and this stunning Riserva. This Brunello is impressive for its overall sheer class, elegance, purity and remarkable structure. Today, the 2010 Riserva is extremely youthful and will require a significant amount of time before it will begin to show its full potential, but nonetheless a truly magnificent wine. Today this youthful Brunello slowly releases aromas of lovely dark cherries woven together with freshly cut floral and hits of spice, minerals and crushed stones. This continues to impress with remarkable balance and finesse supported by fine, gorgeous fine, silky tannins which lead into the long, pretty finish. There is little more to say, except the 2010 Riserva is truly special and ultimately has the potential to go down in history as one of the greatest wines ever from Biondi-Santi. (Best 2025-2050)" International Wine Report

"Fantastic aromas of coffee, tea leaf, ripe plums and ginger follow through to a full body, firm and silky tannins and a rich and subtle finish. Dense and powerful yet very refined and reserved. It needs at least five years to show its true character. One of the most refined Biondi Santi Riservas I can remember. The tannin texture is exceptional. Try in 2020" James Suckling

"The 2010 Riserva is slow to open and I spent a good amount of extra time with this wine as a result. It was well worth the wait. The intensity inches up in baby steps. With time, the wine is splendent and focused with a very direct and impactful delivery of aromas. It also shows a specifically floral personality with dried rose petal and blue violet that I did not recognize in any of the other Brunellos from this classic vintage. The wine makes a lasting impression in the mouth, thanks to the textual tightness of its tannins and the refreshing crispness of the acidity. The Riserva sees fruit sourced from Il Greppo's oldest vines (25-years-old and more)and the wine ages in traditional oak casks for three years. Some 13,600 bottles were made." Monica Larner

"A perfumed nose of rose, cherry and strawberry notes introduces fruit, soy and leather flavores in this complex, ripe red, which is silky and balanced, revealing refined tannins and tobacco, spice and mineral elements on the finish. Best from 2019 - 2035" Wine Spectator
